HDfury Diva user manual

Part 1Getting started
Overview
The Diva is an HDMI 2.0b matrix, scaler, HDCP fixer and audio extractor that sits in the middle of your setup and makes four sources agree with two displays and an AVR.
02In the box
Unpack everything before you start cabling. Most of the small accessories plug into the jack sockets on the back of the unit, and it saves time to know which is which.
03Connecting
Three cables get you a picture: power, one source into any HDMI input, and your display on an output. Everything else is optional and can be added later.
04Jack connections
Besides HDMI, the Diva carries a row of small jack sockets. Each one has a single job, and knowing which is which saves you plugging the lag tester into the LED strip socket.
05Audio, ARC & eARC
Diva has three ways of delivering audio, and one of them can pull sound back out of your TV. Which you use depends on what your AVR can decode and what it can be connected with.
06Ambient light strip
The ambient light strip sticks to the back of your display and reacts to whatever is playing through the Diva. Take your time with the sticking; the wiring afterwards is three plugs.
07Input lag tester
The supplied lag tester is a light sensor on a lead. Stuck to a box that Diva draws on screen, it measures how long your display takes to show what it has been sent.
Part 2The unit itself
OLED display
The small OLED on the side of the Diva tells you what the unit is receiving, what it is sending and where it sits on your network. Once you can read it, most troubleshooting stops at a glance.
09The buttons
The Diva has four push buttons on the side of the unit, and each one does two different jobs depending on whether you are in the OLED menu or not.
10OLED menu
The OLED menu is the subset of Diva settings you can reach with nothing but the four buttons on the unit. It covers the ones you are most likely to need in a hurry, including the DHCP switch that gets you back onto the network.
Part 3The web server
Web server
The embedded webserver is where the rest of the Diva lives: EDID, scaling, HDR and Dolby Vision, the on-screen display, macros and configuration. All you need is a browser on the same network.
12INFO section
INFO is the page the webserver opens on. It reports what is arriving, what is leaving and what your displays claim they can accept, and it is where you route inputs to outputs.
13EDID section
EDID is how a source decides what to send. The Diva sits between the two, so it decides what each source is told, and this section is where you choose that.
14EDID tables & Automix
Custom mode picks a ready-made EDID from a list of 100. Automix builds one on the fly from your connected sinks and lets you override the parts that matter. This page covers both.
15SCALER section
The scaler works on the TX0 output. You can leave the signal alone, let the Diva decide, or set the output format yourself down to colour space and bit depth.
16HDR & Dolby Vision
This section decides what your display is told about the picture: read the metadata arriving from the source, build your own, replace what is there, or stop it reaching the display entirely.
17OSD section
The OSD puts the same signal information the OLED carries onto the picture itself, so you can read what is arriving and what is leaving from the sofa rather than from the rack.
18CEC & RS232
This section decides how the Diva presents itself on the HDMI CEC network, whether it pulls audio back from your TV over ARC, and gives you a bench for testing CEC and RS232 commands by hand.
19Macros
Macros let the Diva talk to your display for you. When the incoming signal changes, the Diva sends the RS232 commands you have chosen, so a projector switches to the right picture mode without anyone reaching for a remote.
20TOOLS section
TOOLS is where the ambient light strip is tuned, the tone-mapping profile is chosen, and the input lag tester and pattern generator are driven. None of it affects the signal your display receives.
21CONFIG section
CONFIG holds the settings that describe how the unit behaves rather than what it does to the picture: switching, HDCP on TX1, the OLED, audio muting, the network, and the reset and update tools at the bottom.
Part 4Firmware and configuration
Firmware update
The Diva firmware is updated from any web browser based device, through the same web server you use for everything else. There are two files in each release and both have to be run.
23Config export
EXPORT CONFIG saves the current state of the unit as a text file. It is the single most useful thing you can attach when you ask HDfury support or the community about a problem.
Part 5Reference
RS232 & IP control
Every control the web server offers is also available over RS232 and over IP, so the Diva can be driven from a serial computer or from a control system on the network. The syntax is the same in both cases apart from one detail.
25IR control
The Diva can be driven entirely by infrared, which is usually the easiest way to fold it into a remote or a control system you already own.
