01Dolby Vision, HDR and the picture itself

LLDV

Dolby Vision on a projector that never had it

An Apple TV 4K, Nvidia Shield, Zidoo, Oppo or Panasonic player sends Low Latency Dolby Vision the moment it believes the display can take it. The Diva presents that EDID, and then injects the HDR infoframe that an LLDV stream does not carry on its own — the step that actually makes a JVC, Sony, Epson or Optoma projector switch into HDR mode. This is the single most common reason a Diva is bought.

Dolby Vision that looks dull, dark or oversaturated

Getting LLDV to appear is only half the job. In the Diva you set the maximum luminance the player should map to, match MaxCLL and MaxFALL to it, and choose DCI-P3 or BT.2020 primaries to suit your display. Those three settings are the difference between a flat, dark image and the version owners describe as cleaner in the highlights than HDR10.

Turning the HDR flag off on purpose

Owners who calibrate their own gamma curves, JVC users especially, do not want the projector to see an HDR10 infoframe at all: it forces the projector into its own HDR mode and takes over the iris and the gamma. The Diva strips the flag on the main output while it still converts HDR to SDR on the second one.

Video processors

Getting Dolby Vision material into madVR, Envy or Lumagen

Dolby does not license DV to outboard processors, so a Lumagen or a madVR Envy will never receive it directly. Put a Diva in front, let the source send LLDV, raise the DV maximum luminance so the player stops compressing the image itself, and the processor gets a full signal to tone map on its own terms.

02Sound from anything, to anything

eARC-KEY

Atmos from your TV's own apps into an older AVR

Netflix, Disney+ and Prime now live inside the television. Connect that TV to the Diva TX0 output and the sound comes back out of the dedicated HDMI audio output, up to Atmos HBR over TrueHD, on a signal that any AVR input accepts — including receivers built years before eARC existed. Over ARC it reaches Atmos over Dolby Digital Plus.

Sound to a soundbar, a stereo amp or an optical input

One 3.5mm combo jack carries optical S/PDIF up to 5.1 and analog L/R at the same time, and the dedicated HDMI audio output passes every format in existence, DTS:X and Atmos included, on a self generated 720p or 1080p stream. Your amplifier no longer has to sit in the video path at all.

Taking over the ARC role a receiver keeps losing

A television can only deal with one audio system over ARC, which is why the sound disappears every time something in the chain wakes up. The Diva can take that role itself and hold it, so the handshake stops wandering between the TV, the receiver and the soundbar.

The black screen and the HDCP error

Fifteen HDCP engines decrypt every input and re-encrypt each output independently, converting 2.2 to 1.4 and 1.4 to 2.2 on all channels at once. Protected 4K stops blanking the screen, and a processor or receiver built before HDCP 2.2 can stay in the system instead of being replaced.

The Diva terminates the HDMI link on both sides and holds a stable EDID, so your sources stop renegotiating with a receiver or projector that struggles with them. Owners describe the result as a cable box that appears immediately instead of after a minute, and a console that stops dropping the picture halfway through.

Switching that works with Apple TV, Shield and Xbox

Those devices keep sending +5V while they sit in standby, which is exactly why ordinary auto switching picks the wrong one. The Diva switches on the TMDS pixel clock instead, so the source you actually started is the source that appears.

100 EDID banks, your own uploads, a copy taken from a connected display, or Automix built out of two of them — set per input, with flags you can force for 4K60 4:4:4, BT.2020, HDR, Atmos or plain stereo. It is also how owners discover their television has been running its port in reduced bandwidth mode all along.

4K HDR on the big screen, clean 1080p SDR everywhere else

The TX1 output tone maps down to 1080p SDR with a choice of profiles while TX0 keeps the full 4K60 HDR picture. That one feature is why people choose a Diva over the rest of the range: a 1080p projector, an older receiver, a whole house distribution system, a Kaleidescape feeding a legacy processor or an ambient light box all get a correct picture instead of a washed out one.

Recording and streaming in 1080p SDR while you watch in 4K HDR

A capture card gets a clean, unprotected 1080p SDR feed with the colour already mapped, at the same moment your display gets 4K60 HDR. No grey blacks in the recording, no HDCP block, no second console, and nothing changed about what you see on screen.

Two displays with completely different abilities

Run two 18Gbps signals from two sources to two displays at once, or send one source to both. Each output carries its own scaling, chroma and HDCP rules, so a 4K television and a 1080p monitor or projector can share the same sources without either one dragging the other down.

Ambient light driven by the real signal

The optional LED strip reads the actual video inside the Diva — not a camera, not an app — with black bar detection, per colour intensity and a delay you can set to match your display's own lag. Six lengths cover screens from 21 to 85 inch. It is the reason a good number of owners choose the Diva, and it replaced a lot of DreamScreen and sync boxes.

Measuring what your display really does

A light sensor cable and an on screen readout measure the true latency of any display up to 4K60 HDR, so you can compare picture modes and game modes with numbers instead of opinions. The Diva's own added latency is under a millisecond.

Automation

A system that reacts to the content itself

Send RS232 or IP commands to your projector the moment the signal turns into 3D, HDR10, SDR BT.709 or SDR BT.2020 — the feature built with and for the JVC community. Add CEC, IR codes for Harmony and iRule, a Control4 driver and a Home Assistant integration, and the whole room follows the film.

Resolution, chroma, colour depth, colour space, HDCP version, EOTF, colorimetry, MaxCLL, MaxFALL and frame rate to three decimals, on the OLED, on screen or in the browser. It is how owners find out that a cable is not carrying 18Gbps, or that a television quietly runs its input at reduced bandwidth.

The Diva is always working as a matrix and a scaler at the same time, so each output gets the best signal it is actually able to accept.

4x2 matrix, splitter and scaler

Run two 18Gbps signals from two sources to two displays at once, or split one source to both outputs. Scaling, HDCP and chroma rules are applied on the fly, per output.

Frequently asked questions

What is the HDfury Diva used for?
It sits between your sources and your displays as a 4x2 matrix, scaler, HDCP fixer and audio extractor. People use it to get Dolby Vision onto projectors, to pull Atmos out of TV apps for an older AVR, to end HDCP and EDID errors, to feed a 1080p SDR signal to a capture card or second room while watching 4K HDR, and to control the whole chain from a browser.
Can I get Dolby Vision on a projector that does not support it?
Yes. With an LLDV capable source such as an Apple TV 4K or Nvidia Shield, the Diva presents the correct Dolby string to the source and passes the LLDV stream to a display or projector that is not Dolby Vision certified. If there is equipment between the Diva and your DV TV, connect TX0 straight to the TV once so the Diva can sniff the DV string first.
Can the Diva send Atmos from my TV apps to an older AVR?
Yes. Connect the eARC capable TV to the Diva TX0 output and the sound from the TV apps is extracted and sent out of the dedicated HDMI audio output, up to Atmos high bit rate over TrueHD, into any AVR HDMI input. Over ARC it goes up to Atmos over Dolby Digital Plus.
Does it really fix HDCP errors?
The HDCP Doctor provides fifteen HDCP 1.4 and 2.2 engines and converts in both directions inside the same unit. Each input is decrypted first and each output encrypts independently, so any HDCP source can be connected to any HDCP display without the black screen or error message.
Can I watch 4K HDR and record 1080p SDR at the same time?
Yes. TX0 keeps the full 4K60 4:4:4 HDR picture for your display while TX1 outputs a tone mapped 1080p SDR version for a capture card, a second room or an older device. Both run at the same time from the same source.
Does the Diva add lag?
Virtually none. The added latency is in the order of a few pixel clocks, under one millisecond, and is not noticeable. The unit even contains a lag tester so you can measure your display instead of guessing.
Which HDMI version and cables do I need?
The Diva works with any HDMI version from 1.0 upward. For a full 4K60 4:4:4 600MHz 18Gbps link use certified high speed cables, ideally between two and four metres. The Diva also acts as a repeater, so it can replace an HDMI amplifier in a long run.
How do I control it?
Through the embedded web server in any browser on Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS or Android, with IR codes, over IP or RS232, with CEC, or with the four buttons and OLED menu on the unit itself.
What is in the box?
Diva central, a power supply for your region, an IR RX sensor cable, the input lag tester cable, a DB9 to RS232 jack cable, a USB to RS232 jack cable and an optical jack cable. The ambient light kit is an option.
