Following the source that wakes up
In short
Switching automatically to whichever input has just become active, instead of selecting a source by hand every time you turn something on.
Autoswitching sounds trivial until a source that never really sleeps ruins it. The Diva watches the pixel clock rather than the +5V line, which is why it copes with the boxes that defeat other switches.
Autoswitching means a switcher or matrix follows the source that has just woken up, so turning on a console selects it without anyone touching an input button. It is the difference between a system a household can use and one that needs a briefing.
Detecting that is less obvious than it sounds. The traditional method is the +5V line in the HDMI connector, which a source is supposed to assert when it is awake. Plenty of modern sources never drop it: a streaming box in standby holds +5V high so it can be woken, and a switch watching that line believes every input is active all the time.
The more reliable signal is the TMDS clock. A source that is genuinely transmitting has a pixel clock running and a sleeping one does not, whatever it is doing with +5V. Watching the clock also means the switch notices the moment a signal stops rather than the moment a cable is pulled.
Autoswitching on the HDfury Diva
Two settings in the CONFIG section control it. AUTOSWITCH INPUTS is described as the TMDS and pixel clock autoswitch: when activated it forces the Diva to switch to an active signal if the selected signal is lost. Because it watches the clock rather than the +5V line, it also handles sources that keep sending +5V in standby, such as an ATV4K, an Xbox One X or a Shield.
AUTOSWITCH PRIORITY is the second half. With input priority mode enabled, the unit switches to a newly detected active input as soon as it appears, rather than waiting for the current one to go away. Both settings also sit in the OLED menu as Autoswitch and Autoswitch Priority, each ON or OFF, and over RS232 or IP they are set autosw on and set autoswprio on.
Autoswitching and the matrix
The Diva has two video outputs with independent routing, so automatic switching can undo a choice you made deliberately. TX0 and TX1 are set separately with the OUT0 and OUT1 buttons on the unit or with PORT SELECTOR in the INFO section, and over control they are set inseltx0 1 and set inseltx1 1, or set insel 2 3 for both at once. Values 0 to 3 pick an input and 4 sets that output to follow the other.
That is the case for turning the feature off. If a projector is watching one input while a second display is on another, an automatic switch is the last thing you want, and the OLED menu is blunt about it: turn it off when you insist on choosing inputs yourself.
