The HDfury Diva CEC and RS232 section: device type, ARC and test commands

This section decides how the Diva presents itself on the HDMI CEC network, whether it pulls audio back from your TV over ARC, and gives you a bench for testing CEC and RS232 commands by hand.

Enabling CEC

ENABLE CEC must be checked before any of the dropdown options below it are applied to the unit. Once activated, the Diva answers and processes CEC requests and commands and appears on the TV CEC network map like any other device. Uncheck it if you would rather the Diva stayed out of the way: it will not answer external CEC requests or process internal CEC commands, and it disappears from the root TV network map, but CEC commands travelling between your connected sources and sinks still pass through.

Choosing the CEC device type

The device type the Diva claims is what decides who owns ARC in your setup, so pick it to match the role you want the Diva to play.

Video Processor
The default, and the one to choose if you have an AVR in your setup and want that AVR to be the device using ARC or CEC.
Audio Processor
The one to choose if you want the Diva ARC feature to be on, so sound from the TV ARC comes back into the Diva and out again on the HDMI audio output, the 5.1 optical output or the analog stereo jack.

DD+ and Atmos over ARC

Enable DD+/ATMOS ARC extends what the Diva will pull back from the TV. If your AVR can accept more than Dolby Digital or DTS, or can take 192kHz audio on its optical input, the Diva can extract DD+ and Atmos from the streaming apps built into the TV and forward it to the AVR over the HDMI audio output or the optical output. Very few AVRs on the market support 192kHz over optical, so in most setups you should feed DD+ and Atmos to an HDMI input on the AVR instead.

Sending a CEC test command

SEND CEC TEST COMMAND takes a CEC command of your choice in hex and puts it on the bus, which is how you prove a piece of automation before you build anything around it. If you are not sure how to format a command, HDfury recommends the cec-o-matic website made by Kwikwai.

The RS232 test tool

The same page carries a small serial terminal, so you can confirm that the unit is properly configured and ready to communicate over RS232 before you wire it into a control system or start writing macros.

RS232 COMMAND
The text field for the command you want to test.
RS232 BAUD RATE
The speed of the serial link. The default is 19200.
Send Ascii
Sends the command out once you have entered it in ASCII.
Send Binary
Sends the command out once you have entered it in hex or binary.
REFRESH
Reloads the current page.
